Mulund Couple Booked for Trespassing into Elderly Mother's House
The Navghar police have registered an FIR against a couple, Ashok Narayan Pipariya and his wife Asha Ashok Pipariya, for allegedly forcibly entering and re-occupying a flat belonging to Ashok's 72-year-old mother, Lilabai Narayan Pipariya. The property is located in the Siddhi Co-operative Housing Society in Mulund East.
The police acted on a formal complaint filed by Naresh Vilas Ahirrao, 40, a Gram Revenue Officer stationed at the Mulund Tehsil office. Ahirrao lodged the complaint on behalf of Lilabai, who had earlier approached authorities seeking legal possession of her home after her son and daughter-in-law refused to vacate.
Lilabai had approached the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Tribunal, Eastern Suburbs, Mumbai, to secure possession of the residence. Tribunal Chairperson Kalpana Gode subsequently directed the concerned authorities to facilitate Lilabai’s possession of the flat and initiate criminal proceedings against Ashok and Asha for failing to surrender the premises.
In addition to the tribunal proceedings, Lilabai had filed a writ petition before the Bombay High Court in 2025. In compliance with the high court's directives, authorities handed over possession of the house to Lilabai on August 25. However, the FIR alleges that Ashok and Asha subsequently forced their way into the premises and illegally occupied the property once again.
Following the re-entry, Resident Naib Tehsildar Dr Sunil Kapadnis of Kurla-Mulund directed the police on September 2 to register a case against the couple. He instructed officers to take necessary measures to ensure Lilabai's continued possession of the home.
Dr Kapadnis cited several official decisions, including orders issued by the sub-divisional officer and tribunal chairman, the Appellate Tribunal and Additional District Collector of Mumbai Suburban District, the Bombay High Court, and the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, Konkan Division.
Following Ahirrao's complaint, the Navghar police registered an offence against Ashok and Asha Pipariya for illegal house trespass. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
