Mumbai-Born Entrepreneur Jyoti Wakchaure Builds Digital Agency in Sweden
Mumbai-born entrepreneur Jyoti Wakchaure has established a digital marketing agency in Gothenburg, Sweden, turning an abrupt job loss into a cross-border business venture while maintaining her primary financial investments in Indian property.
Wakchaure relocated from Mumbai to Sweden in 2016 on a dependent visa after her husband secured an employment opportunity in the country. Although she initially sought employment locally, she experienced an unexpected dismissal from her workplace, which she recounted as being executed without any prior notice.
Following the setback, Wakchaure began creating online content as a side hustle, launching a YouTube channel in 2018. As her digital audience grew, she decided to formally incorporate her own company in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The venture began by providing specialized social media marketing services to local small businesses in Sweden.
Over time, Wakchaure expanded her business network across the region and began taking on broader Swedish corporate clients. The enterprise now earns an average income of approximately ₹1 lakh per month.
To keep operational expenses minimal, Wakchaure manages the enterprise directly from home, avoiding commercial rent and utility overheads. Her monthly business expenditures total around ₹15,000, which is spent primarily on software subscriptions and digital editing tools needed for content and marketing operations.
Alongside managing her agency, Wakchaure allocates her earnings toward real estate assets, focusing the bulk of her investments in Indian property while recently branching out into Swedish assets.
Wakchaure noted that her relocation to Gothenburg brought both personal and professional milestones, including the natural birth of her daughter, which she described as her most cherished experience abroad. She credited her adaptation to Swedish life with helping her develop greater independence and rebuild her professional trajectory after starting over in a new country.
