Mumbai Bus Operators to Stage Hunger Strike in Bandra Over E-Challan Rules

Passenger bus operators across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region are set to stage a one-day hunger strike on Thursday outside key administrative offices in Bandra to protest against the enforcement of the e-challan system.
The demonstration will be held from 11 am to 5 pm outside the offices of the District Collector, Mumbai Suburban District, and the Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra, located in Bandra.
The protest is organised by the Mumbai Bus Malak Sanghatana (MBMS) along with other transporters' associations. The organisations have characterised the enforcement of the e-challan system and traffic regulations by the Maharashtra Traffic Police and the Transport Department as "unjust and unlawful."
In response to these measures, the MBMS has put forward a list of 18 specific demands concerning traffic regulations and the application of e-challans to passenger transport vehicles across the region.
