Mumbai Crime Branch Books 10 Bogus Doctors After Raids on Seven Clinics

The Mumbai Crime Branch and civic health officials have cracked down on 10 alleged bogus doctors operating across seven clinics in Bhandup, Jogeshwari, Borivali, Dahisar, and Mankhurd without valid medical degrees or licences. The coordinated raids followed information that individuals were treating patients for various ailments, including sexually transmitted diseases, while endangering public health.
The operation was initiated after Unit 7 of the Mumbai Crime Branch received credible intelligence regarding clinics run by unqualified individuals in different parts of Mumbai. According to police, the accused were administering allopathic, Ayurvedic, and Unani medicines to patients and charging hefty fees despite lacking required qualifications or registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council.
Acting on the information, Crime Branch personnel joined medical officers from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to inspect seven clinics on different days. In Bhandup, teams raided Santosh Health Clinic and Vinayak Health Clinic. In Jogeshwari, officials inspected Hamdam Dawakhana and Kohinoor Dawakhana. Raids were also conducted at Ankush Ayurvedic Dawakhana in Borivali and Deepak Herbal Health Care Clinic in Dahisar.
In Mankhurd, the operation was carried out at Samar Ayurvedic Dawakhana by Crime Branch Unit 6. Across the seven targeted establishments, investigators found 10 individuals allegedly practising as doctors without valid credentials. Police stated that during the searches, some of the accused were also found selling expired Unani and Ayurvedic medicines.
Investigators seized medical equipment and supplies during the crackdown, including medicine bottles, syringes, and antibiotic tablets. The seized items were collectively valued at approximately Rs 2.20 lakh.
Cases have been registered against the alleged bogus doctors at Bhandup Police Station under Sections 33 and 36 of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 1961. The case has been transferred to Crime Branch Unit 7 in Ghatkopar, where further investigation is underway.
