Mumbai Crime Branch Probes ₹5 Crore Extortion Threat Call to Tusshar Kapoor

Mumbai Crime Branch Probes ₹5 Crore Extortion Threat Call to Tusshar Kapoor

The Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a probe after actor Tusshar Kapoor received an extortion threat call demanding ₹5 crore from an individual claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The development comes days after a firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu, an incident that is also being investigated by the Mumbai Crime Branch.

According to investigators, the caller identified himself as Harry Boxer, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and demanded ₹5 crore, approximately $1.5 million. However, preliminary findings by the Crime Branch suggest the threat was fraudulent, with the caller allegedly using the gang's name and notoriety to intimidate the actor and extort money.

Following a complaint lodged by Kapoor regarding the threat, the matter was assigned to the Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell. As part of the inquiry, investigators examined the voice recording of the extortion call and compared the audio with available reference samples of Harry Boxer.

A senior police officer confirmed that the call is suspected to be fake after preliminary voice analysis showed that the caller's voice did not match the available audio samples of Harry Boxer.

Personnel from the Anti-Extortion Cell are now working to identify the caller and trace the origin of the threat. No First Information Report has been registered in connection with the incident so far.
