Mumbai Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi seeks Byculla bungalow to avoid long Dahisar commute

Mumbai Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi has officially written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner seeking the allotment of a vacant civic bungalow in Byculla. The request comes as Ghadi seeks to avoid a long and stressful daily commute from his personal residence in Dahisar to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters located in Fort.

Ghadi, who is a corporator belonging to the Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena, addressed the communication directly to the Municipal Commissioner. In the letter, he detailed the severe logistical challenges of traveling daily between Dahisar (East) and the BMC headquarters in Fort. He explained that the journey takes a considerable amount of time and is frequently delayed due to heavy traffic congestion.

The Deputy Mayor stated that the lengthy and unpredictable commute causes him ongoing "mental and physical distress." He noted that these daily travel delays directly affect his ability to reach the civic headquarters in a timely manner. This, in turn, impacts his attendance at critical administrative meetings, official seminars, public interactions, and various other scheduled civic programmes.

In addition to the daily traffic, Ghadi pointed out that the ongoing monsoon season is highly likely to make commuting across the city even more difficult and unpredictable.

To resolve these issues, the Deputy Mayor has requested that a vacant official bungalow situated within the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan premises in Byculla be allotted to him as his official residence. The specific bungalow was previously occupied by former Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Ashwini Joshi, who vacated the premises following her official transfer.

Ghadi stated that the Byculla accommodation is located close to the BMC headquarters, which would enable him to discharge his official duties much more efficiently. He concluded that residing near the headquarters would ensure he can attend civic meetings and administrative programmes on time, thereby facilitating quicker service delivery to the citizens of Mumbai.
