Mumbai Lake Levels Reach 95.90 Per Cent With 13.88 Lakh Million Litres

Water levels across the seven reservoirs that supply drinking water to Mumbai reached 95.90 per cent of their total live storage capacity on Monday, August 31, according to data recorded at 6 am by the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.

The seven lakes collectively held 13,88,054 million litres of water at the time of measurement. The water stock in these catchment areas forms the primary source of potable water supply for the entire city of Mumbai.

The recorded storage is slightly lower than the levels observed during the corresponding period in recent years. During the same period last year, the reservoirs held 13,93,408 million litres, which accounted for 96.27 per cent of the total live storage capacity.

The current levels also remained below those recorded in 2024. In that year, the seven reservoirs contained 13,97,342 million litres of water, representing 96.54 per cent of their aggregate live storage capacity.
