Mumbai Lakes Hold 12,86,403 Million Litres at 88.88 Per Cent Capacity

Water storage across Mumbai’s seven drinking water reservoirs reached 88.88 per cent of total live storage capacity as of 6 am on Monday, August 10, according to data released by the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.

The seven lakes that supply drinking water to the city collectively contained 12,86,403 million litres of water at the time of measurement.

Among the individual reservoirs, Vihar remained 100 per cent full. Meanwhile, both Modak Sagar and Tulsi were recorded as being nearly at full capacity.

The current water stock reflects a slight drop compared to the same period last year. During the corresponding timeframe last year, the city's reservoirs held 12,88,479 million litres, or 89.02 per cent of total capacity.

The present levels are also significantly lower than the figures recorded during the same period in 2024. In 2024, the water stock in the seven lakes stood at 13,25,101 million litres, accounting for 91.55 per cent of total live storage.
