Mumbai Lakes Reach 95.87 Per Cent Capacity With 13.87 Lakh Million Litres

Mumbai’s seven reservoirs supplying drinking water to the city collectively held 13,87,534 million litres of water, or 95.87 per cent of their total live storage capacity, as of 6 am on Friday, August 28, according to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.

Among the seven lakes, Vihar remained 100 per cent full, while Upper Vaitarna recorded the lowest water storage among the reservoirs at 89.76 per cent.

The current water stock stands lower than the levels recorded during the same period last year. At that time, the reservoirs held 13,91,784 million litres, amounting to 96.14 per cent of their total live capacity.

The total storage also remained lower than the corresponding period in 2024, when the lakes contained 13,87,820 million litres of water, accounting for 95.29 per cent of total live storage.
