Mumbai Mandals Welcome Ganpati Idols With Grand Aagman Sohlas Across City

Ganpati mandals across Mumbai welcomed their idols on August 30 with grand Aagman Sohlas, drawing crowds across neighbourhoods including Tardeo, Colaba, Grant Road, and Chandanwadi. The arrival processions showcased a diverse range of creative presentations, featuring towering idols, complex balancing acts, mythological themes, and social messages.

In Tardeo, Tardeocha Raja made an impression during its procession with a detailed backdrop depicting the Dashavatar of Lord Vishnu positioned behind the Ganpati idol, adding grandeur to its arrival. In Chandanwadi, Akhil Chandanwadi S.G.M introduced an idol portraying Lord Ganesha in a Mahadev avatar, designed to balance directly on Nandi.

South Mumbai witnessed further major spectacles during the Aagman celebrations. Colabyacha Yuvraj featured a standing idol balanced atop three dragons, creating one of the most visually striking presentations of the day. In Grant Road, Grant Road Cha Mahaganpati arrived as a massive standing idol positioned on an elephant, with its sheer scale attracting widespread attention along the route.

Sculptural craftsmanship was also prominently displayed at Tulshiwadi, where Tulshiwadicha Maharaja showcased a Krishna-Arjuna-inspired balancing idol crafted by sculptor Arun Datte. Another notable idol was Bal Ganeshcha Ballaleshwar, popularly referred to as 'Khali Wala Bappa' for his adorable dimples, which made its entry in an Indra Dev-inspired avatar.

In addition to mythological designs, the processions included themes centered on social reform. Metro Cha Raja presented a Savitribai Phule-themed Ganpati dedicated to girls' education and empowerment. The presentation featured a depiction of Savitribai Phule in the backdrop standing alongside young girls holding books.
