Mumbai Marks Eid Milad-un-Nabi With Prayers at Minara Masjid and Mahim Dargah

Members of the Muslim community across Mumbai marked Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Wednesday by offering prayers at Minara Masjid and gathering at illuminated sites, including the Mahim Dargah, to celebrate the occasion.

To mark the festival, dargahs across the city were decorated with vibrant lighting. Believers gathered at Mahim Dargah to offer prayers amid the festive setting, while prayer gatherings, food distribution drives, and processions took place across various parts of the city throughout the day.

Speaking on the occasion, a local resident described the day as one of divine blessings, praying for the protection and safeguarding of the Muslim community and the city of Mumbai. The resident also noted that prominent figures and celebrities were arriving as processions, gatherings, and food distribution efforts continued across the city.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Mawlid, commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The event is traditionally observed on the 12th day of Rabi al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Muslim communities around the world observe the day to remember the Prophet's life, teachings, and message, focusing on values such as kindness, compassion, justice, and peaceful coexistence.

In observance of the festival, schools and colleges across Maharashtra were granted a holiday, and banks and several offices remained closed as residents marked the occasion.

Political leaders also extended their greetings on the festive day. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended his wishes to the public. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted his greetings on X, hoping the occasion would foster togetherness, joy, and the spirit of kindness. Congress MP and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also shared wishes on social media, offering hopes for peace, happiness, prosperity, and good health.
