Mumbai Mayor Gives Ride to Stranded Mother and Newborn from Ghatkopar Hospital

A newborn baby girl and her mother, stranded outside Sant Muktabai Hospital in Ghatkopar amid rain and heavy winds, were given a ride home in the official vehicle of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place after the mother, holding her newborn daughter, was waiting outside the hospital to travel back home. The family had waited for nearly an hour outside the premises but could not find an autorickshaw due to the adverse weather conditions.

Mayor Ritu Tawde was departing the Sant Muktabai Hospital premises at the same time after concluding an inspection round. After hearing the newborn's cries and noticing the mother's concern, Tawde stopped to enquire about their circumstances.

Upon realising that the family was struggling to arrange transport in the storm, the mayor offered them a ride in her official vehicle. The mother and her infant daughter were subsequently driven safely to their residence located along Khairani Road in Kurla.

During the journey, Tawde cradled the newborn child before handing her back to her mother. She conveyed her best wishes, blessed the infant, and presented the child's mother with a box of chocolates as a gesture of goodwill.

Photographs of the encounter, showing Tawde holding and cradling the newborn alongside the mother, were subsequently shared on the official account of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
