Mumbai Metro One Launches WhatsApp-Based DG-Pass for Andheri Line

Commuters travelling on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro corridor can now purchase and carry travel passes directly through WhatsApp, following the launch of the DG-Pass digital ticketing facility by Mumbai Metro One on Sunday, August 16.
The new initiative allows passengers to purchase multi-trip passes and stored-value passes without needing a physical smart card. Commuters can also add the digital passes to Google Wallet and Apple Wallet for direct access on their smartphones. Mumbai Metro One, promoted by Reliance Infrastructure, stated that the move aims to streamline regular travel while reducing queues at ticket counters.
Under the DG-Pass system, passengers can select between two distinct pass types. The Trip Pass allows users to buy a fixed number of journeys in advance, with unused trips remaining valid until utilised. The Store Value Pass functions as a digital prepaid card, deducting the applicable fare automatically per journey, with options for digital recharges.
To purchase a pass, commuters must send "Hi" to the official Mumbai Metro One WhatsApp number at +91 9670008889. From the menu, users select "Book Now", choose the "Digital Pass" option, select their preferred pass type, and complete payment via UPI, debit card, or credit card. The system issues the pass electronically without requiring users to download a dedicated mobile application or create a new account.
The service expands upon the WhatsApp single-journey QR ticketing system first introduced on the corridor in November 2022.
Commenting on the rollout, Shyamantak Choudhury, CEO of Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd, said that bringing trip passes and stored-value travel onto WhatsApp provides commuters with greater flexibility and convenience while reducing the need for repeated ticket purchases.
The Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor completed 12 years of operations in June 2026 and has carried more than 125 crore passengers since its inception.
