Mumbai Milk Producers Announce Rs 9 Per Litre Wholesale Price Hike From September 1

Wholesale milk prices in Mumbai are set to increase by Rs 9 per litre starting September 1, following an announcement by the Mumbai Milk Producers Association (MMPA).

Under the revised rate, the wholesale cost will rise to Rs 102 per litre from the current price of Rs 93 per litre. The updated pricing structure will remain applicable until February 28, 2027, according to MMPA president Chandra Kumar Singh.

The association attributed the price revision to the escalating expenditure involved in maintaining dairy animals and procuring essential cattle feed across the region.

According to the MMPA, rates for several critical cattle feed ingredients have surged significantly in recent months. The prices of staple feed components, including grains, tur chuni, and chana chuni, have increased by up to 25 per cent. Additionally, the costs associated with oil cakes and other necessary dairy inputs have also gone up.

The association stated that the wholesale price hike is intended to provide necessary financial relief to local milk producers who have been dealing with mounting production and operational costs.
