Mumbai Police ANC Conducts Drug Awareness Campaign Across 100 BMC Schools

The Mumbai Police’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) conducted a major "Drugs Free Mumbai" awareness campaign across more than 100 BMC schools in Mumbai on Sunday. The initiative was designed to educate young students about the severe dangers of substance abuse and to encourage them to make responsible, drug-free choices in their lives.
The large-scale campaign successfully reached and counselled over 4,000 students across the municipal school network. By focusing on school-aged children, the ANC aimed to build early awareness and equip local youth with the knowledge needed to resist drug abuse.
During the campaign, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pournima Chougule Shringi addressed the students directly. She urged them to remain highly vigilant in their daily lives and emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions when faced with difficult situations.
To provide professional medical and psychological perspective, psychiatrist Dr. Nilesh Vasant Mohite participated in the sessions. Dr. Mohite counselled the BMC school students on the specific physical and mental dangers of substance abuse, highlighting how addiction impacts individuals, families, and communities.
Specialist Akshay Kumar S. Shet also spoke to the gathered students, encouraging them to stay away from drugs entirely. He motivated the students to become active advocates in their own communities, urging them to guide their friends and peers toward making healthier, positive lifestyle choices.
The Sunday campaign represents a coordinated effort by the Mumbai Police to address substance abuse through education and outreach, fostering a supportive environment for students across Mumbai's municipal schools.
