Mumbai Police Announce Traffic Diversions for Ganesh Aagman Processions

Mumbai Police have implemented security measures and traffic diversions across Parel, Lalbaug, Chinchpokli, Byculla, and Sewri in central Mumbai ahead of pre-Ganeshotsav processions. Nearly 30 to 40 prominent Ganesh idols are scheduled to arrive across the city, drawing thousands of devotees for the aagman processions.

Among the major arrivals is the Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani idol, with its procession scheduled to begin from the Parel Central Railway Workshop Ground at noon and proceed through the Lalbaug-Chinchpokli area.

To manage crowds and maintain law and order, around 800 to 1,000 police personnel have been deployed across central Mumbai alongside personnel from the Rapid Action Force and the Central Reserve Police Force.

Authorities have announced several key traffic diversions to prevent congestion. Vehicles travelling via Sewri and the Eastern Express Highway are being diverted towards R.A. Kidwai Marg. Traffic on Dr E Moses Road is being redirected towards Byculla and Sewri.

Motorists approaching Lalbaug Market and Chinchpokli Naka are being diverted towards Byculla or Sewri and Kidwai Road. Commuters travelling through Lalbaug, Chinchpokli, Parel, Byculla, Sewri, and adjoining areas have been advised to expect delays, plan their travel in advance, and follow instructions from traffic police personnel on duty.

Parking has been strictly prohibited on both sides of the Ganesh idol arrival routes. Authorities have also designated one lane along the routes to remain clear at all times for emergency vehicles, including ambulances. Officials have urged citizens to cooperate with the police and avoid parking along the procession routes.
