Mumbai Police Arrest 9 from Malad Call Centre in Fake Delivery Franchise Scam

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested nine people following a raid on a call centre at Evershine Mall in Malad West for allegedly duping at least 20 people by offering fake lifetime delivery franchises in the names of major e-commerce and courier companies.

The operation, conducted on August 24, 2026, targeted a firm operating under the name ‘Insta Transfer Biz Pvt. Ltd.’ Following the raid, a case was registered at the Bangur Nagar police station under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

According to the police, the action was initiated after receiving confidential information about the fraudulent setup. Investigators revealed that the call centre employed telecallers to target prospective victims residing in Mumbai as well as outside Maharashtra. The callers falsely claimed that the company had established tie-ups with leading firms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Blue Dart, DTDC, and BigBasket, luring individuals with promises of attractive financial returns on lifetime parcel-delivery franchises.

Among the nine individuals arrested during the raid are the company's owner, the head of the department, and the manager. The accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody until August 28.

During the search of the premises, police seized equipment and documents valued at approximately ₹25 lakh. The confiscated items include 105 computer hard disks, 32 laptops, 30 mobile phones, five tablets, and more than 100 fake franchise agreements.

Police stated that the investigation has so far identified 20 victims who were allegedly defrauded by the syndicate. As additional complaints continue to be received, the investigation remains ongoing.
