Mumbai Police Extern 10 Habitual Offenders from City and Suburbs for One Year
The Mumbai Police have externed 10 habitual offenders from Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts for a period of one year following a review of crime hotspots in North Division-3. The preventive action was initiated to maintain public peace, curb persistent criminal activities, and reinforce law and order across the region.
According to police officials, the proceedings were carried out under the provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act against individuals allegedly involved in violent behaviour, armed intimidation, assault, extortion, theft, illicit drug dealing, and other serious offences affecting public order. The crackdown followed an assessment of individuals repeatedly engaged in unlawful conduct across various neighbourhoods covered by the division.
The externment orders were executed through multiple local police stations, including Aarey, Kurar, Samta Nagar, Kasturba Marg, and Vanrai. The individuals face a strict one-year prohibition against entering the territorial jurisdictions of both Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts.
Among those externed, Aarey Police Station issued orders against Aman Puttan Jaiswal, 38, and Prafull Yuvraj Awade, 37, on August 22, 2026. The same police station also externed Abhishek Mahendraprasad Saroj, 24, on August 12, 2026, as well as Pankaj Maruti Chalke, 37, and Mahesh Shivraj Swami, 24, on August 28, 2026.
At Kurar Police Station, action was taken under Section 55 on August 22, 2026, against Kartikey Dineshkumar Pathak, 23, whom police identified as a gang leader, and Shailesh Anilkumar Giri, 21.
Additional orders were enforced by other local stations within the zone. Samta Nagar Police Station externed Hrishikesh Vikas Harmale, 27, on August 26, 2026, while Kasturba Marg Police Station externed Vijay Harishchandra Bhoir, 24, on August 24, 2026. Meanwhile, Vanrai Police Station externed Rani Raghunath Harijan, 56, on August 25, 2026.
Authorities stated that the measure was designed to deter habitual offenders, restore public confidence, and prevent disruptions to community safety. Police officials warned that any of the 10 individuals found violating the externment directive by entering the restricted city or suburban limits during the one-year period will face immediate arrest and subsequent legal proceedings under the law.
