Mumbai Police Probe Cop Pushing Cyclist During VIP Convoy After Milind Deora's Post

The Mumbai Traffic Police have launched an inquiry after a video surfaced showing a traffic police personnel allegedly pushing a heavily laden cyclist aside while clearing a road for a VIP convoy in Mumbai.

The matter came to light after Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Milind Deora shared the video on social media platform X on Wednesday, seeking accountability from the authorities.

In the video, a man carrying a heavy load on his bicycle is seen attempting to make his way through a barricaded stretch of the road. During the incident, a traffic police personnel allegedly pushes the bicycle aside, causing the luggage loaded onto it to fall onto the road.

Deora tagged both the Mumbai Police and the Traffic Police in his post on X, questioning the manner in which the cyclist was treated and demanding action against the personnel involved.

The parliamentarian stressed that every citizen has the right to be treated with dignity. He stated that regardless of who the VIP was, such treatment of a working cyclist remained completely unacceptable.

After Deora's post, the video circulated widely across social media platforms. Taking cognisance of the footage and the resulting public concern, the Mumbai Traffic Police stated that the department would examine the video and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials said that further action would be decided once the inquiry is completed.
