Mumbai Police Return Stolen Phones, Gold, and Cash Worth Rs 49 Lakh

The Mumbai Police's East Region-2 division returned stolen and recovered mobile phones, gold jewellery, and cash collectively valued at Rs 49.18 lakh to their rightful owners on Tuesday.

The items were handed over to citizens during a special programme organised by the division following investigations into several cases of theft, burglary, housebreaking, and chain-snatching.

According to police officials, a total of 490 mobile phones were returned to their owners. The recovered handsets alone were estimated to be worth around Rs 42.48 lakh. These devices had been tracked and retrieved in connection with multiple theft cases and related offences registered across the division.

In addition to the mobile phones, the police returned gold ornaments valued at Rs 6.70 lakh. The jewellery had been recovered during investigations into 67 separate cases involving burglary, housebreaking, and chain-snatching incidents.

Officers also returned Rs 79,864 in recovered cash to the respective complainants during the event, bringing the total value of the returned property to Rs 49.18 lakh.
