Mumbai Ranks Ahead of London in IWG Global Work from Anywhere Index

Mumbai has debuted among the world's leading destinations for remote work and travel in the fourth edition of the International Workplace Group's (IWG) Work from Anywhere Index. The metropolis is the only Indian city included in the global evaluation, securing a score of 77 and ranking ahead of major international destinations such as London and Miami.

The annual index evaluates cities worldwide on how effectively they support professionals who work remotely while travelling. In its assessment, IWG reviewed global destinations across several core benchmarks, including climate, broadband speed, accommodation, transport, food, culture, and the availability of flexible workspaces.

According to the report released on Monday, Mumbai achieved its highest scores in the categories covering the cost of transport, the availability of coworking or flexible workspaces, climate, and accommodation.

IWG highlighted that the increasing adoption of work-from-anywhere policies is driving global demand for workcation destinations. These trends continue to be enabled by hybrid working practices and expanding access to flexible workspaces internationally.

"Mumbai's inclusion in the 2026 Index reflects the maturing of India's remote-work infrastructure and the city's growing appeal as a destination for professionals," IWG stated in the report.

On the global leaderboard, Bangkok secured the top position in the 2026 index with a score of 106.5. Tokyo followed in second place with 96.5 points, while Barcelona took third place with a score of 95.5. Porto and Vancouver completed the top five spots on the ranking. Other cities featured in the global evaluation include Budapest, Naples, Medellin, Lisbon, and Seoul.
