Mumbai Suburbs Record Over 100 mm of Rain as IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms

Heavy monsoon rainfall lashed Mumbai on Monday, 29 June, 2026, with several areas in the eastern and western suburbs recording over 100 mm of rain, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The intense monsoon activity over the past 24 hours led to unevenly distributed downpours across the metropolitan area. While the eastern and western suburbs bore the brunt of the heavy rainfall, the island city received comparatively lower rainfall during this period.
The IMD has forecasted that the thunderstorm activity will continue through the day on Monday. Both the island city and the suburban areas are expected to witness intermittent moderate to heavy showers as the day progresses.
