Mumbai Traffic Police Penalise 1,394 Vehicles in 'Dazzling Light' Drive

The Mumbai Traffic Police has launched a special citywide enforcement initiative named the 'Dazzling Light' drive, penalising 1,394 vehicles for using illegal, high-intensity, and glaring lights that endanger road safety.

The targeted action focuses on vehicles fitted with unauthorised additional flashlights, LED light bars, fancy decorative lighting, and bright, high-intensity headlights. These non-standard illumination setups produce extreme glare that can temporarily blind oncoming drivers, severely compromising their vision and creating hazardous driving conditions at night.

Traffic authorities launched the initiative to curb night-time road hazards and prevent serious traffic accidents across Mumbai. The campaign aims to ensure safer travel for all motorists by strict enforcement against unauthorised vehicle modifications that blind other commuters.

In total, 1,394 vehicles were penalised during the enforcement drive for violating lighting norms. The Mumbai Traffic Police reiterated that curbing glaring and intense headlights is essential to reducing accident risks and maintaining safer roads across the city.
