Mumbai Traffic Police Penalise 9,450 Violators in Single-Day Drive

The Mumbai Traffic Police penalised around 9,450 motorists for various traffic violations across the city in a single day, carrying out extensive checks that included a focused enforcement drive in Parel.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyanarayan Chaudhary confirmed the citywide action, noting that the offences included 1,154 cases of wrong-side driving alone.

In Parel, a major traffic enforcement drive was conducted following a tense situation that developed in the area around midnight on Wednesday. Operating in the locality, the Bhoiwada Traffic Division penalised 245 motorists during the day for various infractions.

The violations recorded during the drive included riding two-wheelers without helmets, jumping red lights, triple-seat riding, and using unclear or illegible registration number plates.

The traffic department has intensified enforcement across Mumbai to curb traffic violations, focusing particularly on dangerous driving practices that create risks for other motorists and pedestrians.
