Mumbai Traffic Police Revises Heavy Vehicle Timings on Western Express Highway

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Friday, June 26, 2026, officially revised the movement timings for heavy vehicles on the Western Express Highway between Bandra and Dahisar. The decision was taken in an effort to ease traffic congestion and improve the overall flow of vehicles during peak hours on this major arterial road.

Under the newly updated schedule, heavy vehicles will now be barred from operating on this stretch of the highway from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the mornings, and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evenings. These restrictions will be enforced on all days of the week, with the sole exception of Sundays.

According to statements from traffic officials, the modification was introduced after the department reviewed the prevailing traffic conditions on the Western Express Highway. This review followed the implementation of an earlier traffic notification that had been issued on December 29, 2025.

After assessing how the December 2025 notification affected the daily movement of vehicles, the traffic police determined that further revisions to the heavy vehicle timings were necessary. The primary goal of the adjustment is to ensure a smoother commute for motorists during the busiest times of the day.

The Western Express Highway, which links Bandra in the suburbs to Dahisar, is a vital transport corridor. With the revised timings now in effect, authorities hope to significantly reduce the bottleneck situations that frequently occur during the designated peak morning and evening hours.
