Mumbai University Extends CDOE Distance Admission Deadline to August 31

The University of Mumbai has extended the deadline for online admissions to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered through its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) to August 31, 2026. Students in Thane and surrounding districts can access admission guidance and study materials through the university's regional support centres.

The extension provides eligible candidates with additional time to submit their applications for programmes conducted under the distance and online education framework. The ongoing admission process is being conducted in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. CDOE Director Prof. Shivaji Sargar appealed to eligible students to complete the admission formalities within the extended deadline.

At the undergraduate level, CDOE offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Geography, Rural Development, Marathi, Hindi, and English. Other undergraduate programmes include BCom, BCom in Accounting and Finance, BSc in Information Technology, and BSc in Computer Science.

The postgraduate curriculum includes Master of Arts (MA) courses in History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Marathi, Hindi, English, Geography, Education, Communication and Journalism, and Public Relations. CDOE also offers MCom in Advanced Accountancy and Business Management, MSc in Mathematics, Information Technology, and Computer Science, as well as Master of Management Studies (MMS) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programmes. Additional options include a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), a Diploma in School Management (DSM), and a dual-degree framework.

The admission process for the two-year MMS and MCA programmes has also commenced. Candidates who cleared the respective online entrance examinations are being sent payment links by CDOE to pay their fees and confirm admission. The merit list of qualified students has been published on the CDOE website.

CDOE has also expanded its fully digital course formats. The MA in Sociology has operated in online mode since the previous academic year, while the Diploma in School Management has been introduced online starting from the current academic year. For these courses, the entire academic cycle, including admissions and examinations, takes place online.

To assist applicants, CDOE operates regional centres in Thane, Kalyan, Churchgate, Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi, and Palghar. The university noted that its distance programmes are designed with flexible learning structures, affordable fees, full-time faculty support, and formal recognition from the UGC's Distance Education Bureau and AICTE. Applications can be completed online via the CDOE portal.
