Mumbai Visually Impaired Govindas Train for Five-Layer Dahi Handi Pyramid

The Nayan Foundation First Dhristiheen Govinda Pathak, a group of visually impaired Govindas in Mumbai, is preparing to form a five-layer human pyramid for Dahi Handi 2026.
The 35-member troupe is conducting practice sessions using audio cues and strict safety protocols to coordinate their formations ahead of the festival.
The pathak has been participating in Janmashtami Dahi Handi programmes since 2013. Group member Devendra Ponnalagar stated that almost all members of the crew have previously excelled in various sports, making the formation of a Govinda group a natural step.
Throughout most of their participation over the years, the group has consistently built four-layered pyramids. They previously achieved five-layer pyramids in 2021 and 2025.
