MVA protests at Vidhan Bhavan over alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement

On Tuesday, members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) staged a protest on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai to demonstrate against the Mahayuti government during the ongoing Monsoon Session. The opposition alliance organized the demonstration to express anger over the alleged embezzlement and theft of donations meant for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The demonstration has intensified political tension during the assembly's Monsoon Session. The public protest follows the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) concerning alleged irregularities and theft of donations at the temple. The legal action was initiated after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its preliminary findings to the Uttar Pradesh government.

During the protest on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan, MVA members were seen carrying banners and chanting slogans against the ruling Mahayuti administration. The banners carried by the protesting politicians read, 'The Ram Mandir was built by the beloved devotees of Ram, but now the government is looting the Temple’s donations made by the devotees.'

The formal complaint that triggered the controversy was filed by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Krishna Mohan. This complaint was registered on the basis of the initial report compiled by the Special Investigation Team.

The FIR names eight accused individuals in connection with the donation irregularities. Notably, the name of the trust's General Secretary, Champat Rai, is not included in the FIR. However, his close associate, Ramshankar Yadav, who is also known as Tinnu Yadav, has been named as one of the accused in the case.

Authorities have registered the case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These include Sections 306, 316(5), 317(4), 317(5), 61, and 3(5). The protest in Mumbai highlights the growing political fallout over the management of the temple's donation funds.
