Nagpur Consumer Panel Fines Amusement Park Rs 4.75 Lakh for Expired Food

The Additional District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Nagpur has directed an amusement park to pay Rs 4.75 lakh in compensation after guests at an engagement ceremony were served expired bottled water and sweets containing dead flies.

The consumer commission ruled against the amusement park following a complaint regarding the contaminated food and beverage items provided during the function.

In its observations, the commission stated that serving expired food and beverages is not merely a deficiency in service, but an irresponsible and negligent act that could endanger the health and lives of consumers.

Taking serious note of the public health risk posed by the contaminated refreshments, the Nagpur forum ordered the park management to pay the Rs 4.75-lakh compensation amount.
