Nalasopara Man Dies, Woman Injured as Bike Hits Vasai Bridge Railing

A 20-year-old resident of Nalasopara died and a 19-year-old woman from Vikhroli sustained serious injuries after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a bridge railing on the Kalamb-Nirmal road in Vasai on Sunday night. The couple was travelling together towards Kalamb beach when the fatal collision occurred.

The deceased rider has been identified as Ibrahim Sheikh, aged 20, who resided in the Bilal Pada area of Nalasopara. His girlfriend, identified as 19-year-old Sneha Gaikwad, is a resident of Vikhroli. Gaikwad suffered grave injuries in the crash and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital.

According to available information, Gaikwad had travelled from Vikhroli to Nalasopara on Sunday to meet Sheikh. Later that night, the two decided to go to Kalamb beach and set off together on Sheikh's motorcycle.

The crash took place at approximately 11 p.m. while the couple was moving along the Kalamb-Nirmal road. As Sheikh was crossing the Kalamb bridge, he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle due to excessive speed. The speeding vehicle crashed directly into the bridge's railing, leaving both Sheikh and Gaikwad severely injured on the road.

Following the impact, local residents who were nearby rushed to the accident site to render aid. They immediately arranged to take both injured victims to the D.M. Petit Municipal Hospital located in Nalasopara for urgent medical attention.

Medical personnel at the hospital provided treatment to both individuals upon arrival. However, despite medical efforts, Sheikh succumbed to his severe injuries at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday. Gaikwad remains in serious condition and continues to receive medical care at the hospital facility.

Preliminary findings by authorities suggest that the high speed of the motorcycle caused Sheikh to lose control, resulting in the violent collision with the bridge railing. The Arnala Coastal Police Station has officially registered an accidental death report regarding the crash. Police officers are conducting a thorough investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
