Nashik Court Grants Bail to Nida Khan, Denies Danish Shaikh in TCS Case

A Nashik sessions court on Monday, July 6, granted bail to Nida Khan and Tausif Akhtar, but rejected the bail plea of Danish Shaikh, in connection with alleged sexual harassment and forceful religious conversion of female employees at the TCS unit in Nashik. The ongoing investigation involves nine cases registered at the Deolali Camp and Mumbai Naka police stations.

Nida Khan, who was arrested on May 7, 2026, from a house in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was granted bail two months after her arrest. Khan was three months pregnant at the time of her arrest. Her defense lawyer, Baba Sayyad, argued that her continued custody was unnecessary because a chargesheet had already been filed. He also requested bail on medical grounds.

Khan was named in the case registered at the Deolali Camp police station. She faced allegations of hurting religious sentiments and influencing a TCS employee to practice Islamic traditions. The prosecution alleged that she aided the religious conversion of a victim by giving her a burqa and religious books, and installing religious apps on her phone.

The court also granted bail to Tausif Akhtar, who faced allegations of sexual misconduct. However, the court denied bail to Danish Shaikh, stating that he faced grave allegations. Shaikh was booked for sexual assault under the pretext of marriage.

According to the court, Shaikh gained the victim's trust by lying and promising marriage, leading to sexual relations despite already being married. The court noted that the prosecution expressed concerns that Shaikh could influence material witnesses if released. Consequently, the court ruled that he should remain in custody until the evidence of material witnesses is recorded during the trial.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Nashik Police is currently investigating a total of nine cases related to the TCS Nashik unit. These include one case filed at the Deolali Camp police station and eight cases at the Mumbai Naka police station, involving allegations of exploitation, attempted forceful conversion, hurting religious sentiments, molestation, and mental harassment.
