Navi Mumbai Declares School Holiday For Afternoon Sessions Amid Heavy Rainfall

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) declared a holiday for the afternoon session in all schools across its jurisdiction on Friday, following ongoing heavy rainfall across the city. The decision, which prioritises the safety of students, applies to all schools regardless of their management.
The measure was implemented on the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner after persistent rainfall was recorded in Navi Mumbai.
Alongside the holiday declaration, the civic body issued a safety advisory and specific directions to schools that were already operating their morning and full-day sessions. These schools were instructed to immediately contact parents and guardians.
Under the directive, morning and full-day schools must ensure that students are handed over only to their parents or an authorised guardian before they are permitted to leave the school premises.
The NMMC has ordered all schools to implement these instructions with immediate effect, emphasizing that the highest priority must be accorded to the safety and well-being of the students.
The official notification regarding the school holiday and safety guidelines was issued by Sanghratna Khillare, the Deputy Commissioner of Education for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
