Navi Mumbai Police Destroy Drugs Worth Over Rs 56 Crore In Taloja

On Friday, the Navi Mumbai Police destroyed seized narcotic substances worth ₹56.69 crore at the government-authorised Mumbai Waste Management Company facility in Taloja, Panvel. The destruction was carried out on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as part of the police department's ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Navi Mumbai' campaign to curb the drug menace in the region.

The narcotics, valued at exactly ₹56,69,55,192, had been seized in connection with 26 different criminal cases. The disposal process was executed after following all due legal procedures.

Several top police officials supervised the disposal event. Those present included Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Sakore, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pramod Shewale, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sachin Gunjal.

According to police records, the Navi Mumbai commissionerate has registered a total of 166 cases under the 'Nasha Mukt Navi Mumbai' campaign. The latest disposal of nearly ₹57 crore worth of drugs represents a major milestone in the police department's sustained crackdown on local drug trafficking and abuse.

Speaking on the initiative, Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe highlighted the danger that narcotics pose to the community. He noted that drug trafficking is a serious threat to society, particularly to the younger generation.

"Through the 'Nasha Mukt Navi Mumbai' campaign, we are not only taking strict action against offenders but also creating awareness among citizens to prevent drug abuse," Bharambe said. He urged members of the public to step forward and share information, assuring them that their identities would remain completely confidential.

In addition to law enforcement actions, the commissionerate has intensified its educational outreach. Over a two-day period, special anti-drug awareness programmes were conducted across 25 schools and colleges, educating approximately 5,000 students on the dangers of narcotic substances.

To encourage community participation, the Navi Mumbai Police have also set up a dedicated helpline at 88281 11211, allowing citizens to report drug-related activities confidentially.
