NCP (SP) Accuses Devendra Fadnavis of Misleading Public on Closure of 36,000 Companies

The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Saturday accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of attempting to mislead the public regarding the closure of more than 36,000 companies in the state.

Terming the Chief Minister's remarks on the matter as "verbal jugglery," the party cited official parliamentary data to challenge the government's stance.

According to the NCP (SP), official data provided by the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs in response to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha confirmed the shutdown of 36,211 companies across Maharashtra over the past five years.

The party's statements follow concerns raised days earlier by NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar regarding the scale of company closures and the broader economic situation in the state.
