NDRF and Fire Brigade Rescue Over 113 People From Flooded Vasai Villages

On Saturday, emergency rescue teams successfully evacuated more than 113 stranded residents from the flood-affected villages of Mori and Sakwar, which are located in eastern Vasai along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway.
The coordinated rescue operations were launched after a continuous downpour inundated several villages in the Vasai-Virar region, severely disrupting normal life and leaving multiple residents trapped in rising floodwaters.
In Mori village, personnel from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade carried out a major rescue operation amid the heavy rainfall. The fire brigade personnel managed to rescue over 100 residents who had been left stranded by the sudden inundation. Following their rescue, these residents were immediately shifted to safer locations.
Key administrative and police officials were present on the ground to oversee the emergency response. Palghar district collector Indurani Jakhad and Mandvi senior police inspector Sanjay Hajare were both present during the rescue operation in Mori village to monitor the situation.
In a separate emergency operation, a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was deployed to Sakwar village to assist residents. The NDRF team focused on Vartha Pada in Sakwar village, where 13 people had become stranded due to the rising floodwaters.
The NDRF rescue personnel used inflatable boats and ropes to navigate the flooded terrain, allowing them to reach the trapped individuals. Through these efforts, all 13 residents were safely evacuated and brought to higher ground.
The continuous rainfall has had a widespread impact, with floodwaters entering several houses across the wider Vasai-Virar region. According to civic officials, emergency teams are continuing to conduct rescue and relief operations in the affected villages, and the evacuation of residents from vulnerable areas remains underway.
