NDRF Recovers Cash, Mobile Phones and IDs from Kurla Chawl Collapse Debris

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel recovered cash, mobile phones, identity cards, and other valuables belonging to affected residents during search and debris-removal operations at Garib Nawaz Chawl in Ashok Nagar, Kurla West.

The search operation was carried out amid the rubble of the collapsed chawl, where responders sifted through the debris to clear the site and retrieve personal belongings left behind by the victims and residents.

Among the recovered items were sums of cash wrapped in polythene bags, wristwatches, mobile phones, and key identification documents, including PAN and Aadhaar cards. All retrieved belongings were handed over to the local police for safekeeping and subsequent return to the rightful owners.

NDRF Assistant Commandant Sarang Kurve confirmed the recovery and handover of the items during the site clearance.

"During the digging and debris-clearance operations, we found various valuables, including cash wrapped in polythene bags. We handed these items over to the police. We also recovered watches, mobile phones, PAN cards, Aadhaar cards and other personal belongings," Kurve said.

Police personnel took custody of the recovered valuables as operations at the site continued.
