Neral to Hold Midnight Flag Hoisting at Hutatma Chowk for Independence Day

The Neral-based Hutatma Smarak Samiti, along with local community members and social organisations, will organise a midnight flag-hoisting ceremony at Hutatma Chowk in Neral to mark India’s 80th Independence Day.

The national flag will be unfurled at 12:01 am on August 15. The ceremony will be preceded by a torchlight procession scheduled to begin from Hutatma Chowk at 11:00 pm on August 14.

Siddhvi Sadanand Kshirsagar, a young woman selected to serve in the Indian Armed Forces, will hoist the tricolour. Organisers stated that her achievement will be specially recognised during the programme.

As part of the event, students from the Neral area who secured the first rank in Class 10 examinations will also be felicitated for their academic success.

According to the organisers, the programme aims to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters and preserve the memory of India's freedom struggle. The Hutatma Smarak Samiti has invited local residents, elected gram panchayat members, and representatives from various political and social groups to attend the midnight gathering.
