Newborn Dies at Vashi Civic Hospital After Doctors Allegedly Alter Delivery Plan

Newborn Dies at Vashi Civic Hospital After Doctors Allegedly Alter Delivery Plan

A grieving family has demanded accountability from the administration of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s First Referral Unit in Vashi after their newborn baby allegedly died during delivery when doctors altered the planned procedure.

Milind Das, an autorickshaw driver residing in Navi Mumbai, and his 23-year-old wife, Laxmi Das, were expecting their first child. Laxmi was admitted to the civic-run hospital in Vashi on October 1 for the delivery.

According to the family, medical staff initially advised that a Caesarean section was necessary because the baby’s head was too large for a standard delivery. The family agreed to the surgical procedure and provided formal consent.

However, the family alleges that the medical team subsequently changed the plan without explanation and attempted a normal delivery instead. The newborn child died during the course of the delivery.

Following the death of the infant, Milind Das returned home without his child and is now seeking answers from the Vashi civic hospital authorities regarding why the agreed-upon surgical plan was abandoned.
