Nikhil Dwivedi Questions FWICE Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh

MUMBAI — Producer and actor Nikhil Dwivedi has questioned and criticized a non-cooperation directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) against actor Ranveer Singh. The directive follows an ongoing dispute between Singh and production company Excel Entertainment over the film 'Don 3'.

The action taken by FWICE has sparked a significant debate across the film industry regarding the fairness of industry-wide non-cooperation directives. Concerns have been raised about how such directives can threaten the livelihoods of individuals working within the Hindi film industry.

Dwivedi shared his views on the controversy during an interaction with Entertainment Live. While he acknowledged that industry bodies play an important role in mediation, he argued that contractual disputes should ultimately be resolved through legal channels.

During the interview, Dwivedi stressed that disagreements are not uncommon in the filmmaking process, which inherently involves a large number of people working together on a single project.

"There's no straightforward answer to this, and my only request is that my response be carried in its entirety because it's a sensitive issue," Dwivedi stated.

He explained that a typical movie unit can consist of 100, 150, or even 200 people. With so many individuals collaborating, he noted that disagreements can easily happen between different parties.

According to Dwivedi, this is precisely why contracts and agreements are put in place. He maintained that a dispute, by itself, is not unusual in the industry and should be treated accordingly through established legal agreements rather than stopping someone's livelihood.

The ongoing situation continues to fuel discussions within the industry about the role of trade unions and the appropriate methods for resolving professional disagreements between actors and producers.
