NMMC Demolishes Illegal Buildings in Vashi Nerul and Belapur

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) carried out major demolition drives targeting unauthorized constructions in Juhugaon in Vashi, Sector 6 in Nerul, and parts of Belapur on June 25 and June 27. Under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, civic authorities demolished several illegal structures, including a 600-square-meter ground-plus-one building, after occupants failed to comply with planning regulations.
The operations were supervised by Additional Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment Control) Dr. Amol Palve as part of an intensified crackdown on illegal encroachments across Navi Mumbai.
On June 27, the NMMC encroachment department demolished an unauthorized structure in Juhugaon, Vashi. The action was taken against an illegal construction linked to the property of the late Sadanand Mahadu Patil and Bala Sadanand Patil. The demolition followed a notice served under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966. Civic officials, police personnel, security guards, and labourers executed the demolition using a breaker and a gas cutter.
Earlier, on June 25, NMMC and CIDCO conducted a joint operation in Sector 6, Nerul, at Sarsola. The teams demolished an unauthorized reinforced cement concrete (RCC) ground-plus-one structure spread over approximately 600 square meters on plots 170 to 174. The building had been erected on CIDCO-notified land without civic approval, despite a notice issued under Section 54 of the MRTP Act on January 9, 2026. The operation involved two poclain machines, a JCB, 17 labourers, and police support.
On the same day, June 25, NMMC officials targeted unauthorized constructions in Belapur. Demolition teams cleared illegal structures at Agroli village near Sector 29 and at Karave village in Sector 36. These actions were taken after occupants failed to comply with notices issued under Section 54 of the MRTP Act. A team of 15 labourers, utilizing a JCB, gas cutter, and hammers, carried out the demolitions with assistance from local police.
An NMMC official stated that the corporation is committed to taking stringent action against unauthorized constructions. The official added that similar demolition drives will continue across the city to ensure compliance with planning regulations.
