One dead and 21 injured in Mira Road residential building fire

A massive fire broke out at Avkash Tower in the Govind Nagar area of Mira Road on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of 21 other residents. The deceased resident, identified as Shakila Qureshi, became the first casualty of the incident after succumbing to her injuries during treatment.
The fire erupted on Friday afternoon in the seven-storey residential building, quickly generating thick smoke that spread across the premises. The heavy smoke trapped several residents inside their homes, preventing them from escaping and causing widespread panic among the occupants.
Upon receiving alerts about the blaze, fire brigade personnel, local police, and civic authorities rushed to Govind Nagar to launch a rescue operation. Emergency responders managed to safely evacuate the trapped residents from the smoke-filled building.
Shakila Qureshi suffered severe injuries while trying to escape from the building during the fire. She was evacuated and admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for emergency treatment. However, doctors later declared her dead.
A total of 21 residents affected by smoke inhalation and other injuries were rescued and admitted to various hospitals. Among the injured are two senior citizens who are currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Family members of the two senior citizens have reported that their condition remains critical.
The incident has created panic among the residents of the Mira Road area. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire at the residential building.
