One Dead and One Critical After BEST Bus Hits Five Vehicles Near Dadar Station

A fatal road accident occurred near the Dadar railway station in Mumbai on Monday, June 8, 2026, when a BEST bus lost control and rammed into five vehicles. The collision, which took place at approximately 10:45 am, resulted in the death of one unidentified young man and left another individual critically injured.

The incident occurred on a busy street that typically experiences heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic around that time of day. The out-of-control bus crashed into a two-wheeler, an electric bike, an electric car, a taxi, and a Baleno car. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud sound at the moment of impact, which was immediately followed by widespread commotion on the street.

Following the multi-vehicle collision, the injured individuals were rushed to Sion Hospital for medical treatment. Randhir, the Assistant Medical Officer at Sion Hospital, confirmed that an unidentified man, estimated to be between 22 and 25 years of age, was declared dead upon arrival.

Another victim, identified as Rishabh Gupta, aged between 25 and 30 years, is currently in critical condition. Gupta suffered a serious head injury during the crash. Two other people sustained injuries to their chest, back, and shoulder.

Visual footage from the scene captured the BEST bus speeding down the road before colliding with the vehicles with significant impact. The crash left the bus with heavy exterior damage and a shattered windscreen. A crane was later brought to the site to recover the damaged vehicles and clear the roadway, which had suffered severe traffic congestion.

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, which is currently financially strapped, has seen its buses involved in several fatal accidents recently. In past incidents, a BEST bus reversing in Bhandup killed four pedestrians last December, and an elderly woman was crushed to death by a bus wheel in Mulund in October. Additionally, a food delivery worker was killed in Prabhadevi in April last year, and a three-year-old girl died in a similar crash in Borivali during the same month.
