One Dead and Two Firefighters Hospitalized After Bandra West Building Fire

A fatal fire broke out on Thursday, June 18, 2026, on the seventh floor of the Atlantic Building, located near Sherly Rajan Road in Bandra West, Mumbai. The incident resulted in the death of a 64-year-old resident and left two responding firefighters hospitalized.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire was confined to Room No. 701 and Room No. 702 on the seventh floor of the ground-plus-seven-floored residential structure. The fire affected the electric wiring, electrical installations, and various household articles inside the two affected apartments.

Following the outbreak of the fire, emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the site. The response units included the Mumbai Police, a 108 Ambulance, personnel from the Adani Electric Distribution Company, and the local BMC ward staff. These teams worked in coordination to secure the area around Sherly Rajan Road and manage the aftermath of the blaze on the seventh floor of the Atlantic Building.

Three people who sustained injuries or suffered from smoke inhalation during the incident were rushed to the Bandra Bhabha Hospital. Upon arrival, doctors declared one resident, identified as 64-year-old Azim Barodawala, brought dead.

The other two individuals taken to the hospital were firemen who responded to the emergency. They have been identified as 32-year-old Shivshankar Bharat Puri and 34-year-old Navnath Mohan Bite. Both firemen were admitted to the hospital due to suffocation. Medical officials have confirmed that their conditions are currently stable.
