One Dead, Two Firemen Injured in Bandra West Building Fire

A fatal fire broke out on Thursday, June 18, 2026, on the seventh floor of the Atlantic Building near Sherly Rajan Road in Bandra West, Mumbai, resulting in the death of one resident and the hospitalisation of two responding firemen.
The fire was reported in the ground-plus-seven-floored residential building. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the blaze was confined to Room No. 701 and Room No. 702 on the seventh floor. The fire damaged electric wiring, electrical installations, and various household articles inside the two apartments.
Following the outbreak of the fire, emergency services immediately mobilized to the site. The response team deployed at the location included the Mumbai Police, a 108 Ambulance, personnel from the Adani Electric Distribution Company, and the BMC’s local ward staff.
Three people who suffered injuries during the incident were transported to the Bandra Bhabha Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, the attending doctor declared one resident brought dead. The deceased has been identified as 64-year-old Azim Barodawala.
The other two injured individuals are firemen who were admitted to the hospital after suffering from suffocation during the emergency operations. They have been identified as 32-year-old Shivshankar Bharat Puri and 34-year-old Navnath Mohan Bite. Hospital staff confirmed that both firemen are currently in stable condition.
The emergency teams worked at the Sherly Rajan Road site to secure the residential building and manage the aftermath of the seventh-floor blaze.
