One Injured in Ceiling Slab Collapse at Ulhasnagar Residential Building

A resident was injured on Sunday afternoon after a portion of a ceiling slab collapsed at Kumaon Apartment in the Saibaba Nagar area of Ulhasnagar Camp No. 3. Following the incident, the local civic administration evacuated the entire residential building as a precautionary measure.
The injured person has been identified as Vinod Kachare. He was pulled out from under the collapsed debris by emergency responders in time. Kachare sustained injuries in the incident and was admitted to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials confirmed that his condition is currently stable.
The residential structure, Kumaon Apartment, is nearly 25 years old. After receiving alerts regarding the collapse, personnel from the Fire Brigade and officials from the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation’s (UMC) Emergency Department arrived at the spot to carry out rescue operations and secure the premises.
Following the evacuation of the residents, structural engineers from the civic body were deployed to assess the site. Technical teams and engineers from the UMC’s Town Planning Department and the Public Works Department have commenced an inspection to evaluate the structural integrity of the building and determine whether it remains safe for human habitation.
The incident in Ulhasnagar follows a similar structural failure reported on Friday in nearby Bhiwandi. In that incident, a portion of a ceiling collapsed on a family during dinner inside a fourth-floor flat at Munir Manzil in Madhav Nagar, causing serious injuries to a five-year-old girl and wounding her father. That accident occurred shortly after the Kohinoor Apartment tragedy, which claimed 10 lives.
