One-Year-Old Boy Dies After Cab Runs Over Him Outside Sakinaka Building

A one-year-old boy died after an aggregator cab allegedly ran over him inside the premises of his residential building at Sakinaka on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:00 pm at Dosti Plaza on 90 Feet Road, opposite China Town Hotel in Sakinaka. The victim, identified as Abdul Samad, was walking near the entrance of the building alongside his five-year-old brother when a white-coloured cab entered through the main gate.
According to the police, the elder brother managed to step aside after noticing the approaching vehicle, but the toddler was unable to move out of the path. The vehicle was allegedly being driven rashly, and its front-left wheel ran over the child's chest, leaving him severely injured.
The child's uncle, Javed Patel, witnessed the accident and immediately rushed Abdul to Paramount Hospital in Sakinaka using the same cab. Medical personnel at Paramount Hospital advised the family to shift him to Axon Hospital. The child was subsequently referred to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East.
Doctors at Seven Hills Hospital declared the boy dead on arrival at approximately 7:30 pm. Following the incident, the victim's father, Aslam Patel, 34, who runs a lamination business, lodged a formal complaint against the driver.
Sakinaka police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence. The driver, identified as Mohammad Rizwan, 29, a resident of Ghatkopar, was arrested by the police and later released after being served a notice.
