Oshiwara Police Recover Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's Hacked X Account

The cyber team of the Oshiwara police station on Monday recovered filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s hacked X account, days after he lodged a complaint stating that he had lost access to his profile.

According to the police, the recovery was made after tracing the account's history and verifying Mishra's identity. Investigators focused on a breach that took place at 12:53 am, during which an unauthorised user altered the registered email address from [email protected] to [email protected]. Following the verification, the cyber team coordinated directly with X’s backend processes to reverse the unauthorised modifications.

In his complaint, the three-time National Award-winning filmmaker stated that he was abruptly logged out of his account. Notifications from the platform indicated an unauthorised login from an iPhone around 12:53 am. The intruder subsequently added a security key and modified the registered email address, cutting off Mishra's access.

Mishra had previously reached out to X support on his own, but the platform's support team rejected his recovery request after failing to validate that the account belonged to him.

Following the successful restoration of his account, Mishra expressed his gratitude to the Mumbai Police and the Oshiwara police cyber team. He specifically acknowledged the efforts of senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, sub-inspector Vijay Suresh Sardesai, assistant sub-inspector Ashok Konde, and constable Vikram Sarnobat for their role in resolving the issue and retrieving his profile.
