Padgha Police Rescue 85 Stranded Residents From Flooded Ganesh Nagar in Bhiwandi

The Padgha Police successfully rescued 85 stranded residents from severe flooding in the Ganesh Nagar area of Bhiwandi, Thane district, following relentless monsoon rains over the past few days. Led by Senior Police Inspector Pankaj Giri, the rescue operation safely evacuated trapped families, including children and senior citizens, from the inundated locality.
Continuous heavy rainfall caused floodwaters to enter houses across Ganesh Nagar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Padgha Police Station. As water levels steadily rose, dozens of families found themselves trapped inside their homes with no way to escape on their own. The rising water caused widespread panic among the residents, particularly the elderly, women, and children.
Upon receiving information about the crisis, Senior Police Inspector Pankaj Giri immediately led his team to the affected area. The police personnel launched a large-scale rescue operation despite challenging conditions, including strong currents and waist-deep water.
The rescue team moved systematically from one flooded house to another to evacuate the residents. The officers prioritized children and senior citizens, carrying them through the submerged lanes. Among those safely evacuated were Joshna Salunkhe, aged 60, Devika Pawar, aged 4, Ashwini Pawar, aged 25, and Santosh Pawar, aged 28. Thanks to the timely intervention of the Padgha Police, all 85 residents were rescued without any loss of life or serious injuries.
During the operation, Inspector Giri carried a young child on his shoulders while navigating the waist-deep floodwaters to reach safety. A photograph of this moment went viral on social media, with citizens praising the officer's dedication and compassion.
Ganesh Nagar residents expressed their gratitude to the Padgha Police, stating that the team's prompt response and coordination prevented a major tragedy. The rescue operation has drawn widespread appreciation for the professionalism and commitment shown by the officers during the emergency.
