Palghar Collector's Office Staffer Dies in Pune Hospital After June Machete Attack

Snehal Sawant, a Revenue Assistant at the Palghar Collector's Office who was brutally assaulted with a machete near Gold Cinema in Palghar, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune.

The fatal assault took place around 6:30 PM on June 12, when Snehal was returning home to her residence at Mudra Apartments in the Gold Cinema area. Her boyfriend, Amol Mule, ambushed her on the way and dealt seven to eight severe blows with a machete, inflicting critical wounds to her neck and waist.

Following the brutal attack, Snehal was immediately rushed for emergency medical attention. Due to the critical nature of her injuries, she was later transferred to a multi-specialty hospital in Pune for specialized care. She battled for her life for over two months, but her condition deteriorated sharply, leading to her demise on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the violent attack stemmed from an ongoing dispute in their romantic relationship. Snehal served as a Revenue Assistant at the Palghar Collector's Office, while Amol Mule was employed at the High Court.

The news of her passing has caused widespread grief across the Palghar Collector's Office. Her colleagues, staff members, and senior officers paid rich tributes to her memory following the announcement of her death.
