Palghar Farmers Receive Rs 43.36 Crore Under Karjmukti Debt Waiver Scheme
A total of 7,702 farmers across Palghar district have received debt waiver benefits amounting to Rs 43.36 crore under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana, officials confirmed during a district-level review meeting held on Tuesday under the chairpersonship of District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar.
The review meeting evaluated the progress of the scheme and assessed measures to ensure remaining eligible beneficiaries receive their waivers. District Deputy Registrar Kishan Ratnale, Lead District Manager Vishal Wagh, Rajendra Bhere of the District Central Cooperative Bank, and other administrative officials attended the session.
According to official data, an initial list of 10,484 eligible farmers in Palghar district was published across service cooperative societies, gram panchayat offices, and local bank branches. Out of these, 8,313 farmers have completed the mandatory Aadhaar authentication process.
The financial disbursals were executed in phases. On August 7, 5,169 farmers received waivers totaling Rs 29.20 crore, followed by an additional 2,695 farmers who received Rs 14.81 crore on August 24. The sanctioned amounts were credited directly to the respective loan accounts, and certificates confirming the farmers' debt-free status have been distributed to the beneficiaries.
However, administrative hurdles remain for 2,148 farmers who have not yet completed their Aadhaar authentication. Officials noted that 1,965 farmers currently lack a Farmer ID, which is mandatory to complete the procedure. Among those pending, 562 farmers are deceased, and 510 hold forest rights titles.
The district administration has advised the families of deceased farmers to visit their respective bank branches to register legal heirs on the loan accounts. Forest rights title holders have been instructed to coordinate with their local Talathi to finish their AgriStack and Farmer ID registrations.
Farmers encountering issues with the scheme have been directed to submit written complaints to the relevant Tehsildar, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, or bank branch. To date, 26 online complaints have been registered and resolved by the district-level committee. Dr. Jakhar urged all eligible farmers to finish their AgriStack, Farmer ID, and Aadhaar authentication promptly to claim their benefits within the stipulated timeline.
